UPSL Announces Minnesota Expansion with Inter Minneapolis FC

Minneapolis, MN-Based Club Joins Midwest Conference for Spring Season

February 15, 2021 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Inter Minneapolis FC as its newest expansion club ahead of the Spring Season.

Based in Minneapolis, MN, Inter Mpls FC will begin UPSL play in the Midwest Conference North Division. The club will host its home games at Bob Pates Stadium on the campus of Burnsville High School (600 State Hwy 13, Burnsville, MN, 55337).

Inter Mpls FC is co-owned by Randy Quinde, A.J. Elwir, Jeremy Mitchell and Sunylar Mao. The club previously played in local leagues but will now compete exclusively in the UPSL. 

UPSL Commissioner Yan Skwara said, "We are excited to welcome Inter Minneapolis FC to the Midwest Conference North Division. Strong ownership groups with an eye toward the future are the most successful, and Inter Minneapolis is well positioned in that regard. The UPSL has definitely found a home in Minnesota and we wish Inter Mpls FC success on and off the field in 2021."

Jason Popkin currently serves as Head Coach for Inter Mpls FC. Popkin previously coached with Vlora FC (UPSL) in 2019, leading the team to a division title in its first season.

"We decided to compete in the UPSL because our goal is to unite communities to compete and succeed at the highest level of soccer," Quinde said. "UPSL is another step closer to our ambition of achieving the next level, and the soccer community is growing tremendously in Minnesota."

The club will announce its upcoming game schedule.

Inter Minneapolis FC is an American Soccer club currently based in Minneapolis, MN, and a new member of the United Premier Soccer League. Inter Mpls FC will play in the UPSL's Midwest Conference North Division.

Inter Mpls FC can participate in the qualifying rounds for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup through their affiliation and membership with the UPSL, the U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) and the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA).
