As United prepares for the first exhibition of the season for its National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) squad (Tuesday night at 7pm at Manning Field against Boston Olympiakos), its state league sides have begun their schedules and were all in action over the weekend.
Saturday brought United’s debut in Division 1 of the Bay State Soccer League (BSSL) against Playwright FC. United played well but their opponents took full advantage of Rider mistakes, handing our boys a 3-1 loss.
It was a long, busy Sunday in the Massachusetts State Soccer League (MSSL) with three contests resulting in two wins and a loss. The day started with FC Lynn taking on AC Boston in Division 2 play, earning a 5-2 win. Next it was Division 1′s Mass United FC Lynn pulling out a 1-0 win over Celtic FC, the game’s lone goal coming from Mass United NPSL’er Miguel Castro. It was back to Division 2 to cap off the day, with Mass United FC falling 3-0 to Medway FC.
