On a wet field in Wayland Mass United’s Bay State Soccer League squad did what they could. They practiced. Why? Because unfortunately, their opponents for the day, tied-for-first-place Analog, had to forfeit due to being shorthanded. United is more than happy to take the 3 points though, and with them the 2 spot in the table. The Riders are now only 1 point behind division-leading Middlesex, with a head-to-head match up looming on October 22nd. Middlesex were 3-0 winners on Saturday over Division 3 bound Baystate Wolves. I’m assuming their 3-0 win was not a forfeit as ours was (3-0 is the scoreline assigned forfeited games) but as you’ll see below, I should do that less.
Next up for United in the BSSL is Rovers FC on October 8th followed by FC Americana on the 15th. United can ill afford to drop points in either of these games ahead of the match-up with Middlesex.
United’s Massachusetts State Soccer League team plays today at 4pm in Tyngsboro against West Africans United but that’s probably not the biggest MSSL news this week. It turns out what I thought were games needing to be made up were games in dispute. Disputes United won, giving them 6 more points and putting them much closer to the teams ahead of them. The Riders have 17 points now, only 4 points behind Medway FC.
