Full Steam Ahead…

Mass United has partnered with British soccer legends, Admiral Sportswear. The deal means Admiral will provide kits and apparel for the Riders for the next 5 years. The kits are scheduled to be completed early in 2012 and will be available, along with replica jerseys and an assortment of products, through both the Admiral and Mass United websites. Check out the joint press release here.

Cup Heartbreak Revisited…

Mass United suffered another last minute Cup-competition loss on the 11th, this one to Mass Premier Soccer in the state semi-finals of US Open Cup qualifying. The game was played at Madison Park High School on one of the coldest days of the season and featured sloppy play from both sides. The game was decided on a free kick in the last five minutes that curled around the wall beautifully and past keeper Steven Liechti. The win for MPS sets up a state final with Battery Park Gunners, who defeated Boston Olympiakos in the other game of the double header. The date for the final has yet to be determined and may be played in the spring. The Riders may have another shot at the US Open Cup via their membership in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL). How the league’s entrants are determined will be decided at the league’s annual meeting in January.

We Don’t Need No Stinking Grass…

The first indoor season is almost complete, with both Mass United squads qualifying for the playoffs after a very competitive seven game schedule. It was FC Tigers (in first with 13 points) and DUTCHMASTERS (second place, 11 pts) taking the top 2 spots and the first round bye in the playoffs that goes with it. The remaining four teams will square off to determine their opponents in the semi finals. The other teams that qualified for the playoffs are, SK Dinamo (11 pts), Green Briar FC (10), Mass United FC (10), and Mass United U23 (9).

The playoffs start on January 8th at 6:55pm with 3rd place SK Dinamo taking on Mass United U23. Game 2 is Mass United FC v. Green Briar FC at 7:25pm. All games are played at The Field House in Sudbury, MA. The league’s final regular season standings are below.
