Riders Re-sign All-Star…

Mass United has announced the re-signing of midfielder Adrian Kawuba for the upcoming season. “I was extremely excited when (club Owner and Head Coach) Jim (Antonakas) called me,” said the 2011 National Premier Soccer League All-Star, “He reached out to me and I am really thankful for the opportunity.” The Head Coach might, in fact, be one of Adrian’s biggest fans, saying, “He’s an extremely talented player who has a very positive attitude and is a very good fit for our club and what we want to build and become.”

Building for the future is something the midfielder understands as well, “(Last) season was a building block for us and I’m pretty excited that I could re-sign with Mass United and be a part of the club going forward.” This promises to be just the beginning of signings and re-signings for United, whose main goal this off-season is to improve the team and have an impact on the race for the NPSL championship. Stay tuned, as they say.

Reserve Roller Coaster…

The match between Mass United’s Massachusetts State Soccer League squad and Director of Game Day Operations Jon LangloisFC Lynn ended 2-0 in favor of FC Lynn. The battle for office bragging rights didn’t exactly have a clear victor though as United took the first fixture this season by the same score. Trash talk on the field was also inconclusive, but Jon made his feelings on the result clear, “Works for me.”
The MSSL squad didn’t have to wait very long to get back to winning, however. They defeated AC Boston 2-1 on Thursday night (giving FC Lynn a boost in their hunt for promotion), but were unable to turn that into a winning streak on Sunday, losing 4-1 to division-leading Lowell Lusitanos B in Charlestown.

Meanwhile, the Bay State Soccer League squad’s fight for promotion to BSSL’s first division suffered a set-back, falling 4-2 on Saturday to Union Brew House. The Riders are still only 4 points behind Analog in the race for the top spot thanks to an Analog loss, but they’ve fallen one place in the table to 5th.
