April 30, 2020 – Los Angeles, CA – The United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) is pleased to announce Alaska Timbers as its newest Division I member.

Based in Anchorage, AK, Alaska Timbers will begin UPSL play in the 2020 Season as part of the Last Frontier Division I. The club is finalizing its venue options in compliance with UPSL National Division I standards.

"AYSC is one of the finest clubs in Alaska and we are so excited they have made the next step into Pro Development with their Timbers Affiliate program, Alaska Timbers. With a stable of fantastic coaches and staff, Alaska Timbers is a welcome addition to the UPSL's Last Frontier Division. We can't wait to see the team they put on the pitch this year," Last Frontier Division Manager Brett Banks said.

Alaska Timbers was created in 2020 and is an extension of Anchorage Youth Soccer Club, a member of Portland Timbers Alliance. Alaska Timbers will now compete exclusively in the UPSL.

"We've joined the UPSL to continue a clear and present pathway for our homegrown players and local community players. As a club, we believe in the development and progression of our players and now they will have another opportunity that can assist them in reaching the next level of their game," AYSC Technical Director Jo Reid said.

Through its strategic partnership with the Portland Timbers, Anchorage Youth Soccer Club is Alaska's only club affiliated with a Major League Soccer (MLS) team. AYSC's mission is to create a positive club culture and highly skilled and competitive players. AYSC re-invests in the Anchorage community and the sport through its social charters that provide annual scholarships for foster and refugee youth.

The club will host tryouts in the coming months and will begin play when the UPSL resumes the 2020 Season.
