Mass United Set to Begin Ride

Mass United FC makes its National Premier Soccer League debut when it begins its regular season schedule with a weekend double-header against New Hampshire’s Seacoast United Phantoms on Saturday, May 14th at 3pm and Brooklyn Italians on Sunday, May 15th at 5pm. Both games are being played at the recently renovated Manning Field in Lynn, MA. Tickets are available online in our Tickets area and at the stadium box office on the day of the game. There is a discounted 2-game package available as well.

Single game ticket prices are:
$5 Adults
$3 Youth (under 16)

Double game ticket prices are:
$8 Adults
$5 Youth (under 16)

As an added bonus… any youth coming to the game without a ticket wearing their local youth soccer or school soccer jersey will gain free entrance to the game.

For Seacoast United this will also be their debut in NPSL. However, this doesn’t mean that they’re newbies. They were founded in 1992 and have become one of the most successful soccer organizations in the region. Seacoast United operates a full soccer pyramid that not only serves players of all ages, but which will only grow after recently merging with the New Hampshire Phantoms, an organization that had enjoyed many successes at this level.

While both of the Riders’ opponents for the weekend have relatively long histories, for Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club, longevity has an entirely different meaning. The immigration boom to the U.S. following World War II did more than just bring in the people of other nations; it brought us their traditions as well. Italian immigrants that needed a reminder of home formed Brooklyn Italians Football Club in early 1949. This reminder has grown into an impressively successful organization that can claim ownership of not one but two U.S. Open Cups. The first title came in 1979 and the second in 1991, which also propelled them into the CONCACAF Champions Cup and CONCACAF Cup Winners Cup. This past season was the Italians’ first in NPSL and they came in strong, tying with New York Red Bulls for first on 31 points but losing the top-spot due to tiebreakers. Look for them to be near the top again this season.
