An Unfamiliar Foe

Mass United is looking to rebound from a tough opening-day loss when it takes on FC New York for the first-ever time this Saturday at 5:00 pm in National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) play at Manning Field in Lynn.

Former USL-PRO side FC New York visits Manning Field on Saturday, May 19th at 5pm

United opened its NPSL season on May 5th against Brooklyn Italians, ending up on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline. While the game was not as one-sided as the score indicates, the Riders must show improvement on all fronts if they hope to take the full 3 points from this match. United’s opponents spent last season in USL-PRO and retained some of that squad’s players when moving to the NPSL, making them a formidable opponent.

FC New York, founded in 2009 and based in Queens, New York, is coming off a weekend visit to Seacoast United Phantoms in New Hampshire and Seacoast United Mariners in Maine, earning a 2-2 draw with the Phantoms (The result from the Mariners match was not available). FC New York started the season with a 2-1 loss to those pesky Brooklyn Italians.
