A Long-awaited Showdown

Boston, MAMass United continues its quest for the National Amateur Cup on Sunday against Southie FC in the Massachusetts state final. The match will be played at Roberto Clemente Field in Boston with a 2pm kickoff. United reached the final by defeating Mass Premier Soccer (MPS) on November 3rd in the second round, after being awarded a first round win due to the scheduled opponent dropping out of the tournament.

United’s Lynn squad in the Massachusetts State Soccer League (MSSL) needed a final-fixture win to wrest the league crown from a Southie FC team that had stormed to the top of the table in the season’s final weeks. United took the season series with Southie in the MSSL, 1-1-0 (4pts) but they have not played since August 18th, a scoreless draw.
